Albanias PPI rises 2.1% y/y in Q4 2011.

Albanias producer prices grew by an annual 2.1% in Q4 2011, decelerating for a second quarter in a row, the state statistics institute, INSTAT, said on its website. The manufacturing sector, which has the greatest weight of 57.4% in the producer price index (PPI), contributed the most to the overall growth. Manufacturing prices increased by an annual 3.3% in the final quarter of last year on the back of a 8.2% y/y growth of producer prices in the manufacturing of coke and refined petroleum products. In addition, the PPI in basic metals and fabricated metal products manufacturing picked up by 2.9% y/y, also contributing to the overall increase. Producer prices in the mining sector rose by 2.1% y/y lifted by a 4.9% y/y increase in the extraction costs of crude petroleum and natural gas. Electricity prices remained unchanged for second quarter in a row, both in annual and quarterly terms. The dynamics of producer price inflation was broadly in line with the consumer price index in Q4 2011. According to IntelliNews calculations, consumer prices in the country increased by an average 2.5% y/y in the quarter, slowing down from 3.2% y/y in Q3 and 3.1% y/y in Q4 of 2010.
