Local telecommunication company Tring Communications, a subsidiary of Albanian Satellite Communications (ASC), has signed a contract with Eutelsat for the distribution of Tooway consumer broadband service, Eutelsat said in a press release. The accord will enable the local company to deliver broadband across the country, notably to homes and businesses in areas beyond range of its terrestrial infrastructure. Tooway is the first satellite service in Europe to provide broadband speeds and costs comparable to ADSL. Furthermore, the two companies signed a multi-year contract for the extension of the capacity on the W2 satellite for broadcasting Tring Digital pay-TV platform. Tring already serves to 30,000 subscribers and has an ambitious target to expand with 50,000 additional clients in 2010.
