Albanian Chrome to invest up to EUR 20mn in upgrade.

Mineral exploration company Albanian Chrome (ACR) plans to invest between EUR 10mn and EUR 20mn to upgrade its local production units in the next few years, the companys managing director Rohtraut Skatsche-Depisch was quoted as saying by Balkans.com. The company reported a record monthly output of 3,000 tonnes of ferrochrome, following the activation of the second operational furnace at its plant in Elbasan. ACR has also recently launched the modernisation of its smelter in Burrel, northern Albania. It plans to upgrade the enrichment plant in the northern town of Klos. ACR is owned by Austrian company DCM DECOmetal and Russian company Terwingo, which acquired the concession for the ferrochrome mines in Bulqiza, Burrel and Elbasan from Italian Darfo at the end of May 2009.
