Albanian central bank to auction EUR 80.8mn T-Bills on Dec 24.

Albania's central bank, which places state securities on behalf of the government, said it will auction ALL 11.3bn (EUR 80.8mn) worth of lek-denominated T-bills on December 24. The bank will offer 12-month T-bills worth ALL 8.4mn and 3-month T-bills totalling ALL 2.9bn. The average yield on the 12-month securities increased by 10bps to 6.32% at the latest auction held on December 11, on the back on weak investors demand. The yield on the 3-month T-bills dropped to 6.00% at the latest auction on November 27 from 5.05% achieved at the previous tender held on October 30. The central bank will also auction EUR 20mn worth of 12-month euro-denominated T-bills on December 24. This will be the third issue euro-denominated bills this year. The previous euro-denominated auction took place on August 21, when the bank placed EUR 15mn of 12-month securities at an average yield of 5.26%. The yield declined from 5.66% at the auction on July 24.
