Albanian bank assets rise 12.9% y/y in April 2012.

The value of assets held by the Albanian banks increased by 12.9% y/y to ALL 1,190bn (EUR 8.56bn) at end-April 2012, according to central bank data. The annual growth rate slowed down from 13.8% in March but speeded up from 12.1% recorded in April 2011. According to IntelliNews calculations, the assets equalled to 85.9% of the projected full-year GDP, up by 5.7pps y/y. Government securities comprised 29.4% of the total assets. In monthly terms, the value of bank assets increased by 0.5% in April, decelerating from a 1.9% m/m rise in the previous month.
