Albania's producer prices up 1% y/y in Q1

Albania's producer price index (PPI) went up by 1% y/y in the first quarter of 2018, after increasing by 2% y/y in the previous quarter, the state statistics institute INSTAT said on June 5.

The growth of PPI slowed down in Q1 as prices in the key manufacturing sector fell both in yearly and monthly terms.

The PPI in the mining and quarrying sector increased by 4.5% y/y, decelerating from a 7.8% y/y increase in Q4, data indicated.

The PPI in the manufacturing sector moved down 0.5% y/y, after rising by 1.6% y/y in the previous quarter. Producer prices in the subgroup of food moved down by 1.8% y/y while those for beverages dropped 0.8% y/y.

In Q1, the PPI in the electricity, gas steam and air conditioning sector grew by 1.2% y/y, after edging down by 0.1% y/y in the previous quarter.

PPI in water supply and waste management went up by 2.9% y/y, accelerating from a 1.4% y/y increase in the previous quarter.

Compared with the previous quarter, the PPI was rose by 0.5% in Q1 after moving up 1.7% m/m in Q4.

Producer prices on the domestic market were higher by 0.7% y/y. The annual change in export producer prices in Q1 was 1%.
