Energy consumption in Albania will be reduced by 9% until 2018 and by 20% until 2020 under a new strategy drafted by the economy ministry, local news agency Lajmeshqip reported. Some of the measures include introduction of ban on imports of energy-intensive products. Local authorities will also be obliged to issue building permits only in cases that beneficiaries meet energy efficiency criteria.
