Albanias trade with the European Union (EU rose by 19.8% y/y to ALL 107.5bn (EUR 755.4mn) in the first quarter of 2011, according to data from the statistics office INSTAT. The EU made up 64% of Albanias foreign trade for January to March 2011. Albanias imports from EU increased by 15.4% y/y to ALL 73.6bn and exports rose by 30.9% y/y to ALL 33.9bn. Italy was Albanias main trade partner with a 53% share. The trade volume between the two countries reached ALL 57.2bn, up by 25% y/y. Although foreign trade with Greece dropped by 3.3% in the first quarter, the country remained Albanias second largest trade partner. Turkey ranked third.
