Albania-EU trade volume drops 12.6% y/y in December 2012.

Albanias trade volume with the European Union countries decreased by 12.6% y/y to ALL 42.8bn (EUR 306.4mn) in December 2012, according to data from the statistics institute, INSTAT. The trade exchange with the EU accounted for 66.3% of Albanias foreign trade for the month, down by 1.5pps in annual comparison. Albanias imports from the EU fell 19.6% on the year to ALL 29.2bn in December, while its exports grew by 7.5% y/y to ALL 13.6bn. Italy was Albanias main trade partner for the period, accounting for 40.2% of the countrys foreign trade volume and 60.6% of the Albania-EU trade. Turkey was Albanias second largest trade partner with ALL 4.9bn in the bilateral foreign trade generated in December, followed by Greece and China.
