Albania approves budget for May 8 local elections.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has approved the budget for the May 8 local elections, ATA news agency informed. The state will spend ALL 750mn (EUR 5.4mn) or approximately ALL 241.7 per voter. The state will spend ALL 27.5mn to buy additional equipment to improve the vote-counting process. Meanwhile, the OSCE Presence in Tirana announced that the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has started a 5-day needs assessment mission on January 17, 2011. International experts will release a report on the assessment of the pre-election environment and will recommend an ODIHR election-related activity if necessary.
