Aeroflot - Russian Airlines RAS net profit down by 73% y/y in 2009.

The RAS net profit of the domestic air carrier Aeroflot - Russian Airlines amounted to RUB 1.55bn (USD 53mn) in 2009, dropping by 73% y/y, the company announced. The drop in net profit was attributed by the company to the creation of reserves for the debts of the Aeroflot Cargo subsidiary. As reported, in 2008 companys RAS net profit went down by 4.4% y/y to RUB 5.81bn and in H1/09 it increased by 48% y/y to RUB 3.33bn. Aeroflot is the countrys largest airline in terms of passenger traffic, accounting for 51% of Russia s international and of domestic flights.
