Eurostat: Poland's per inhabitant GDP rises to 56% of EU average in 2008.

Poland's GDP per inhabitant, expressed in purchasing power standards, rose to 56% of the European Union's average in 2008 from 54% in 2007 and 52% in 2006, the EU's stats office Eurostat has announced. The highest figures were reported by Luxembourg (276%) and Ireland (135%), while the euro-zone's indicator was 108% of the average. The lowest figures were reported by: Bulgaria (41%) and Romania (47%) - the only countries in the EU that were ranked lower than Poland. tom
