Slovenia’s industrial production rose by 0.5% y/y in September, slowing down from an annual increase of 6.9% reported for the previous month, the Slovenian Statistical Office said.

Slovenia’s industrial production increased 8% y/y in 2017. Industrial output growth has accelerated in recent years, but small, export-oriented Slovenia is vulnerable to slowdowns in global trade. 

On a monthly basis industrial production decreased 2.1% in September, following a 2% m/m hike the month before.

At the annual level, industrial activity in mining and quarrying advanced by 6.6%, while the manufacturing and the electricity, gas and steam supply sectors reported growth of 0.5% and 0.3% respectively.

On a monthly basis, industrial activity decreased in manufacturing by 2.2%, and by 1.6% in mining and quarrying. Production in the sector of electricity, gas and steam supply fell by 0.8% m/m.

In the first nine months of the year, industrial production in Slovenia increased 6.2% against the same period in 2017.
