Slovak average harmonised inflation rate amounted at 2.5% in September, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on Wednesday October 17. In August the inflation accelerated to 2.8% y/y from 2.6% in July.  

EU-harmonised inflation (annual inflation rate) in Slovakia decreased to 2.7% y/y in September from 2.8% in the previous month, matching market expectations. The index of consumer prices was mainly influenced by the following increases: food products and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.12 percentage points; clothing and footwear 0.08 pp; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels 0.06 pp; restaurants and hotels 0.04 pp; and education 0.01 pp.

Downward pressure on prices m/m was reported for the following categories: transport by 0.15 pp; recreation and culture by 0.09% pp; and household equipment and regular household maintenance by 0.02 pp.

Inflation rate in Slovakia averaged 2.86% from 2002 until 2018, reaching the highest amount of 9.8% in November 2003 and a record low of -0.90% in July of 2016.
