Skanska's Czech, Slovak and Polish business units to merge into Skanska Central Europe

Skanska's Czech, Slovak and Polish operations will be merged into one business unit, Skanska Central Europe, the company said in a press release published on August 26. The business unit president of Czech and Slovak construction operations, Michal Jurka, will become the president of Skanska Central Europe effective as of September 1.

The establishment of the Skanska Central Europe business unit will create an operational model that is common to both the construction and development sections, which will also allow for a unified approach to co-operation, the company stated in the press release. 

“The new Skanska Central Europe business unit will offer a unique opportunity to share the best work experience of our existing business units in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia while maintaining local competencies. Skanska will use dimension of the new business unit to provide employees with more opportunities for their career growth within the group,” commented the president and CEO of the global Skanska Group, Anders Danielsson. 

According to global Skanska Group, the business unit president for Skanska Poland, Magnus Persson, will be become the executive vice-president of Skanska Sweden’s management team responsible for the building construction stream. The current executive vice-president, Lars Jonson, will take a new role as vice-president health and safety within Skanska Group headquarters, reporting to the senior vice-president for sustainability with Skanska Group, Lena Hok.

“I am convinced that we will create a successful business unit built on clear values, quality work, professional, active and committed employees,” Jurka concluded. 

Skanska is a world leader in construction and project development on markets in the Nordic region, Europe and the USA. The global company employs about 38,000 employees, and its revenue in 2018 totalled SEK170bn (€15.8bn). Skanska is one of the largest construction companies in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, focusing mainly on road and railway construction and concrete structures.
