WoE: Romania struggling to shake off structural limits

Romania has been growing very fast in recent years and GDP per capita has doubled. But that growth is about to slow and while incomes have soared now the state is running a twin deficit.

The country has fallen into a middle income trap and has reached the stage where it needs to break through its structural limitations if it is going to continue its convergence with the rest of Europe.
