bne IntelliNews is the combination of bne Media (the publisher of bne magazine founded in 2006) and Emerging Markets Direct, the publisher of the IntelliNews PRO news and viewswire founded in 1998. Both companies were merged in 2014 by Jerome Booth's New Sparta, until 2017 when Booth withdrew. bne IntelliNews is independently owned and operated, with editor in chief and the founder of bne, Ben Aris as the controlling stake holder. James Hammond, Nicholas Watson and Liam Halligan are signficant minority shareholders.

Editor-in-chief: Ben Aris
Amongst the longest serving foreign correspondents in Eastern Europe, Ben Aris has been covering Russia since 1993, with stints in the Baltics and Central Asia. He co-founded bne and is a former Moscow bureau chief for the Daily Telegraph and was a contributing editor at The Banker and Euromoney for a decade.
James Hammond founded Emerging Markets Direct in 2011 as a vehicle for the MBO of IntelliNews from Euromoney’s ISI Emerging Markets, where he was Director and Executive VP of Global Marketing, Product Development and Acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he headed ISI’s Latin American operations out of Mexico City and, prior to ISI, was Associate Publisher (Latin America) for World Times Inc.
Nicholas Watson is a co-founder of bne. An award-winning journalist and published author, he has a long career as a reporter in all the major regions of the globe. He was a correspondent in Tokyo for eight years, in New York for three years, in London for three years, and in Prague for 10 years.
Liam Halligan is an economist, columnist and broadcaster with extensive business experience. He has written his weekly Economics Agenda in The Sunday Telegraph since 2003 - which has been recognized with a British Press Award since 2003. Between 2007 and 2013, he was Chief Economist at Prosperity Capital Management.

Clare Nuttall is based in Bucharest, Romania. She previously spent six years in Kazakhstan with bne first as Central Asia correspondent then as Eurasia bureau chief. Clare has also written for the Financial Times’ Beyond Brics blog, Economist Intelligence Unit publication Business Eastern Europe and private equity magazine Real Deals. She has a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from Oxford University.
