Ford drives hike in car production in Romania

Czech unemployment fell to 3% in March from 3.3% in February, and down from 3.5% in March 2018, due to start of seasonal work. The number of jobless people reached 227,000 in March, the lowest March value since 1997, according to the Czech Labour Office statement from April 8.
The number of vacancies increased to nearly 340,000. “In March, almost 49,000 people left the Labour Office register, many of them finding job in construction, spa industry, agriculture, forestry, gastronomy or tourism,” said Labour Office Director Katerina Sadilkova.
The lowest unemployment rate was recorded in Prague, up by 1.9% in March. The highest numbers were posted in the Moravskoslezsky and Ustecky regions, where the unemployment rate reached 4.0% and 4.6%, respectively.
“March is a typical month when an interest of employers in community service grows, particularly in cleaning of public spaces in spring. … We expect increase in these activities in April. In the coming months, unemployment will most likely decline,” Sadilkova added.
The employers are most interested in building construction workers, production assistants, assembling workers, cleaning staff in hotels, and truck drivers. Traditionally, the highest demand was for technical professions in all fields.
