Vienna Insurance Group written premiums in Slovakia rise 4.2% in Jan-Sept.

Vienna Insurance Group said that its Slovak business generated EUR 498.7mn in written premiums for the first nine months of 2011, up 4.2% y/y. Premiums in the non-life insurance segment rose 3.3% y/y to EUR 239.7mn in January to September, while premiums in the life-insurance sector climbed 5.1% to EUR 259mn, the company said in a statement on its website. The combined pre-tax profit of the three Slovak companies that are part of the Vienna Insurance Group soared 46.8% y/y to EUR 42.6mn. The Austria-based group claims to be a leader on the insurance market of neighbouring Slovakia share of with a share of 31.9%. Vienna Insurance Group is represented by three insurance companies in Slovakia - Kooperativa, Komunalna Poistovna and Poistovna Slovenskej Sporitelne.
