Vienna Insurance Group's Serbian unit Jan-Sep profit before tax up 22% y/y.

The Serbian unit of Austria's Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) saw a 22.2% annual increase in its nine-month profit before taxes to EUR 2.2mn, VIG said in a statement.

The Serb insurer posted gross written premiums of EUR 43.1mn in the first nine months of 2012, up from EUR 39.5mn a year earlier.

Non-life gross written premiums of Serbia's Wiener Staedtische Osiguranje climbed to EUR 26.3mn in Jan-Sep 2012 from EUR 22.8mn in the like period of 2011.

The Serb unit's life gross written premiums over the period edged up to EUR 16.8mn from EUR 16.7mn.
