Ukraine lowers gas transit to Europe by 12.75% y/y in February.

In February, Ukrtransgaz, a subsidiary of Ukraine's state oil and gas firm Naftogaz, reduced the transit of natural gas to Western Europe by 12.75% y/y to 8.096bn m3. The company said that gas transit to CIS countries grew by 15.91% to 438.46mn m3. In general, 8.534bn m3 of natural gas was pumped through Ukraine, down by 11.63% y/y. The total volume of marketable gas that was transported by Ukraine's gas transport system amounted to 16.645bn m3, a decline of 2.02% y/y. The domestic transportation of gas in the country grew by 46.25% to 227.57mn m3. In 2012, the natural gas transit through the territory of Ukraine will total 100bn m3, believes, Yurii Boiko, minister of fuel and energy.
