UK retailer Tesco to launch construction of new store in Hungary.

UK retail chain Tesco planned to start the construction of a new store in Miskolc in north-eastern Hungary , the company announced. It would occupy an area of 50,000 sqm and was expected to open for commercial operations in 2011. Employment, created by the new facility, should come at 160 people. Tesco already operates four supermarkets in Miskolc . In total, the retailer branch network in Hungary amounts to 103 supermarkets with a total workforce of 22,000 people. Turnover for 2009 of the retailers Hungarian unit was estimated to have increased slightly y/y from the HUF 602bn, recorded in 2008.
