Turkey seeks to buy additional 6bn cubic metres of LNG (liquefied natural gas) until 2015 to meet growing demand for natural gas, energy minister Taner Yildiz said on Wednesday. There have been talks with Qatar on the purchase of LNG but this country may not provide all the additional 6bn cubic metres of LNG and some of the needed gas may be bought from the US, Yildiz added. Turkey also wants to build a LNG terminal with Qatar in Turkey, in addition to the existing two terminals in the country.
