Turkey’s exports climb 31% y/y in July to $11.5bn

Turkey’s exports increased by a sharp 31.2% y/y to $11.5bn in July, data from the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) showed on August 1.

According to TIM data, exports to Russia jumped 96% y/y to $211mn in June while shipments to Germany rose by 28% y/y to $1.2bn in the month. The EU, the largest export market for Turkish companies, increased its imports from Turkey by 29% y/y to $5.8bn and exports to the Middle East were up 34% y/y to $1.9bn.

The automotive industry’s exports rose by 41.1% y/y to $2.4bn while the country’s ready-wear export revenues increased by 19% y/y to $1.4bn.

In the first seven months of the year, the country’s export revenues stood at $88.9bn, a 10.7% increase from a year earlier.

The government is targeting $153bn in export revenues this year. But Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci said on July 25 that the country’s exports could exceed $155bn.
