Total buys 75% stakes in two onshore blocks in Kazakhstan.

French Total bought a 75% stake in North and South blocks which cover some 1,450 m2 in the southwest of the country. The stake was purchased from Nurmunai Petrogas. This is the first step of Total into onshore in Kazakhstan. The company already holds an 8.4% stake in the largest Kazakh oil field - Kashagan. The transaction was earlier approved by the Kazakh authorities. The deal indicates that Total is eager to develop further operations in the Kazakhstan's oil sector.
