Telefonica O2 Slovakia revenues up 50.5% y/y in 2010.

Cell phone operator Telefonica O2 Slovakia, the local unit of Spanish Telefonica, said its revenues rose by 50.5% y/y to EUR 111.7mn in 2010 on the back of increasing customer base, improving customer mix and growth in traffic. In Q4 alone, the companys revenues increased by 42.6% y/y to EUR 32.8mn, Telefonicas Czech unit said in a statement on its website. The number of active customers rose by 59.2% y/y to over 800,000 at end-December 2010. The number of contract customers grew by 71% to 334,000, while the number of prepaid active customers increased by 52.8% to 546,000. The network of Telefonica O2 Slovakia covered 94.9% of the countrys population and nearly 89% of the calls were performed in its own network, or a 4 pps y/y growth. Telefonica O2 Slovakia is the smallest of the three mobile phone operators in Slovakia.
