South African generic drugmaker Cipla Medpro eyes African expansion.

South African generic drug manufacturing company Cipla Medpro plans to expand into Africa to accelerate growth, the Business Day newspaper reported. The company will announce partnership with a Nigerian company by the end of the year, the company's CEO, Jerome Smith, was quoted as saying. According to the executive, Cipla Medpro also plans to launch products in Tanzania and Kenya in 2012 and is exploring opportunities in Ghana. Cipla Medpro, which was created from a joint venture between Cipla International and South African company Medpro Pharmaceutica, manufactures 40bn tablets per year and exports to 170 countries worldwide.
