The Slovenian government Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD) said on September 27 it sees inflation at 1.8% this year mainly owing to strong oil price rises and a gradual strengthening of growth in prices of services. Prices should increase steadily in the next few years.

The monthly growth in consumer prices was supported by a 10.3% hike in the prices of clothing and footwear. According to the statistics office, with the arrival of autumn-winter collections in stores the prices of garments increased by 11.1% and the prices of footwear by 9.5%.

Prices in the sector of housing, water, electricity gas and other fuels went up 1.5% on a monthly basis. The steepest fall was reported by the recreation and culture sector where prices went down 5.1% m/m.

Compared to September last year, consumer prices rose the most in the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels sector, by 5.2%. Prices fell only in the clothing and footwear sector, by 1%.
