Serbian Dunav Grupa seeks to buy Kosovo-based Kosovsko Metohijska banka.

Local construction company Dunav Grupa has submitted a request to the central bank for the purchase of Kosovo-based Kosovsko Metohijska banka, EM portal has reported. Under the local regulations, the purchase of a stake in the bank above 5% should be approved by the National Bank of Serbia (NBS). The bank is based in Zvecan, just outside the ethnically divided northern town of Mitrovica. It operates mainly in the Serb-populated areas in Kosovo, as well as in southern and central Serbia. The bank, which was established back in 1991, posted RSD 1.3mn profit in Q1 2010. Its assets were estimated at RSD 594mn.
