Serbia's November jobless rate rises to 23.7% - stats agency survey.

Serbia's unemployment rate increased to 23.7% in November from 22.2% in April 2011, the statistics agency said. The November jobless rate was 22.8% regarding the male population and 24.9% regarding the female, the results of a labour force survey carried out by the agency in November showed. Serbia's unemployment rate was 19.2% in October 2010, the survey, which is published on the agency's website, said. It was conducted on the sample of some 8,000 households as some 21,802 people have been interviewed. The November employment rate was 35.3%, down from 36.2% in April 2011 and 37.7% in October 2010. The informal employment rate, which represents the share of people employed in the non-monitored (black) sector of the economy, was 17.8% in November, down from 19.9% in April 2011 and 19.6% in October 2010. Serbia's population totals 7.1 million, according to the preliminary results of a 2011 census.
