Serbia foreign trade at EUR 14.8bn in Jan-Aug 2011.

Serbia's total foreign trade stood at EUR 14.8bn in the period January-August 2011, the country's statistics office reported. Exports stood at EUR 5.6bn, up 21.2% y/y, and imports were EUR 9.2bn, up 23.3% y/y. The foreign trade deficit over the period was EUR 5.1bn, up 6.2% y/y. Imports of intermediate goods and raw materials accounted for 47.2% of all imports in the first eight months of the year, reaching EUR 26.2mn. In August alone, foreign trade stood at EUR 1.8bn. Exports amounted to EUR 709mn, up 18.8% y/y and imports were EUR 1.1bn, up 2.9% y/y. In January to August 2011, Serbia's top trade partner as regards exports was Italy with EUR 637.6mn, followed by Germany with EUR 630.8mn. As regards imports, Serbia imported goods and services worth EUR 1.2bn from Russia, followed by Germany with EUR 1bn.
