Serbia attracts 3.4% more tourists in 2011.

The number of tourists who visited Serbia in 2011 rose 3.4% to 2.07 million, the country's statistics office said in a statement. Tourist overnights rose 3.6% to 6.64 million over the period. The number of foreign tourists jumped 12% to some 764,200 last year, while the number of domestic tourists declined 1% to 1.3 million. Foreign tourists spent 13% more overnights in Serbia in 2011, or a total of 1.64 million. Domestic tourists accounted for 5.0 million overnights last year, up 0.8% in comparison with 2010. In December alone, the overall number of tourists edged down by 0.3% on the year to 132,600, while the total number of overnights fell an annual 10% to 368,300. The number of foreign tourists visiting Serbia in December rose 9.8% on the year to 50,850, while the number of domestic ones dropped an annual 5.6% to almost 82,000.
