Samsung Electronics SA, the South African unit of South Koreas electronics giant Samsung, will start manufacturing all of its computer monitors and TV sets locally at an assembly plant in the Gauteng province, Business Day reported. The move is aimed to reduce costs and give the company more control over the pricing of the products, which is essential for its competitiveness on the local market. Monitors and TVs are the only products planned for local assembly at this stage. The Samsung monitors and TVs manufactured in South Africa will have a three-year guarantee. |
