Romanias registered unemployment up 0.1pps to 5% at end-September.

The registered unemployment reported by Romanias labour bureau, ANOFM, increased slightly by 0.1pps y/y to 5% at the end of September. The number of registered unemployed persons was a mere 0.5% up y/y to 442.2 thousands at the end of the month, out of a total of 8.83mn active population. Only 128.4 thousands were, however, recipients of unemployment aid. The share of registered unemployed persons supported by the budget decreased by 6pps on the year to 29%. The ILO reported unemployment, which reflects the number of persons actively seeking jobs, was 5.8% at the end of August for the age brackets 25-74 and 7.1% for the age bracket 15-74.
