Romanias Hidroelectrica sells nearly 0.3TWh of electricity on free market.

By bne IntelliNews March 22, 2013
Romanian state-controlled hydropower company Hidroelectrica sold on Thursday, March 21, in several separate contracts a total of 0.3TWh of baseload electricity deliverable between April 1 and the end of the year, the country's power grid operator OPCOM announced. The average price was RON 180.75 (EUR 40.9) per MWh with the power being delivered by Hidroelectrica via the grid operator's high-voltage network. The price does not include VAT. The value of the packages sold by the hydropower company totals RON 53.7mn (EUR 12.1mn). The buyers were CEZ Distributie power supplier for five packages, and Edisson Trading s.pa Milano, Renovatio Trading, Enel Energie Muntenia and Repower Furnizare Romania for the other four. Also on the bilateral contracts market, Romgaz failed to sell its baseload electricity for April-December. The natural gas company, which has recently started operations at the Iernut power plant, asked for RON 204,5 per MWh [same delivery terms as Hidroelectrica]. Notably, OMV Trading is asking RON 210 per MWh for baseload electricity in the auction scheduled for March 28. Most likely, OMV Trading sells the power generated by OMV Petrom's gas-fired power plant. For comparison, nuclear plant Cernavoda asks only RON 180 per MWh in the auctions scheduled for March 27.
