Romanias H1 new car sales down by 14.7% y/y.

Romania's new car sales dropped by 14.7% y/y to 50,272 units in H1, Mediafax reported, quoting car importers and exporters association APIA. The sales of passenger cars shrunk steeper than the average, by 18.3% y/y to 43,233 units as the consumption remains subdued on a combination of scarce financing and low consumer confidence. On the upside, the sales of commercial vehicles increased by 14.2% to 6,618 units, confirming the economys recovery. The production of vehicles dropped by 2.9% y/y to 177,679 units in H1 mainly on a 5.3% y/y decline in their exports to 155,442.
