Retailer Spar Hungary raises revenue by 6.2% y/y in 2009.

The Hungarian network of Austrian retail chain Spar generated total turnover of HUF 397.3bn in 2009, up by 6.2% y/y, the company managing director Peter Feiner said. He pointed out that the company planned further expansion on the market in 2010, aiming to achieve further sales growth during the year. The branch network would be expanded by adding 3-5 new supermarkets and one hypermarket in 2010. Spar Hungary thus aimed to gain market share of around 1pps during the year to 15%.
