Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko's parliamentary faction has urged Kyiv government to raise the minimum wage in Ukraine to UAH4,000 (€170) from the current level of UAH 3,200, faction head Artur Herasymov said at a meeting of heads of parliamentary factions and groups on September 4.
Earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) was forced to revise its inflation forecast upward from 8% to 9.1% in 2017. The move was attributed primarily to the minimal wage rise increase to UAH3,200 (€110), which took effect from the beginning of the year.
According to offiial data, headline inflation in July stood at 0.2% in monthly terms, (vs 1.6% in June, 1.3% in May and 0.9% in April). In annual terms, inflation accelerated to 15.9% in July (vs 15.6% in June, 13.5% in May and 12.2% in April).
In August, the NBU said it sees risks that 2017 year-end inflation may deviate more significantly from the mid-point of the target range (8% ± 2 percentage points).
"Current developments of the CPI and its components point to the further heightened risks that 2017 year-end inflation may deviate more significantly from the mid-point of the target range (8% ± 2 pp) despite the fact that underlying inflation pressures remain moderate," the NBU underlined.
