Net sales of German do-it-yourself retailer Praktiker in Albania decreased by 12.5% y/y to EUR 3.1mn in the first nine months of 2011, the company said in its interim report. In Q3 alone, sales decreased by the same margin accounting to EUR 1.1mn. Praktiker operates one store in Tirana, which was opened in October 2009. Albanias retail market is highly fragmented and dominated by small retail shops. Besides Praktiker, other foreign chains that operate in the country are French Mr.Bricolage and Slovenian Mercator. |
