Number of false Serbian asylum seekers in EU remains high.

By bne IntelliNews May 24, 2011
The Head of the EU delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert said that the number of false Serbian asylum seekers in the EU has dropped, but is still five to six times higher compared to the period before the scrapping of the visa regime and is cause for concern, Beta news agency reported. Degert called for more efforts by the Serbian authorities to address this issue. "I welcome the measures that have been undertaken, but it still remains to be seen to what extent they will affect the number," Degert said as cited by B92. "There is no time to waste, and we all have to join forces in defending the good decision made in 2009 - granting of visa liberalization for the citizens of Serbia," the official added.
