Net assets of Macedonian mandatory pension funds up 30.6% y/y in January 2013.

Net assets of Macedonias two private mandatory pension funds increased by 30.6% y/y to MKD 21.62bn (EUR 351.5mn) at end-January, according to pension supervision body MAPAS data. The annual growth of the net asset stock has decelerated from 31.9% at end-December. In monthly terms, the combined net assets of the two funds expanded by 2.4% at end-January, after rising by 2.1% a month earlier. The number of fund members rose by 8.9% y/y to 325,031 at the end of last month, slowing down from 9.1% y/y at end-December. The two mandatory funds are NLB Penziski Fond and KB Prv Otvoren Zadolzitelen Penziski Fond. At the end of January, KB Prv was the larger of the two, both in terms of members (171,034) and net assets (MKD 11.61bn). There are also two private voluntary pension funds in Macedonia - NLB Penzija Plus and KB Prv Otvoren Dobrovolen Penziski Fond. At end-January, they had a total of 16,831 members (up 0.5% on the month) and combined net assets of MKD 200.3mn (up 4.7% on the month).
