Montenegro's registered unemployment rate stood at 20.19% on July 3, data from the country’s employment agency showed on July 18. A month earlier, the jobless rate was 20.97%.
The July 18 data is in line with the government’s 2015-2018 macroeconomic projections, according to which the employment level was expected to rise by 0.6% per year, while the Montenegro unemployment rate was forecast to decline.
There were a total of 46,843 registered job seekers as of July 3, up 18.7% y/y.
Montenegro's unemployment rate fell to 17.4% in the first quarter of 2017 from 17.5% in the previous three months, according to the statistics office's latest labour force survey.
