Montenegro's unemployment rate at 13% as of end-May.

The number of unemployed in Montenegro fell by 2.5% y/y to 30,296 as of May 28, the Employment Agency of Montenegro (ZZZ) announced. The number also dropped slightly compared to a week earlier when it stood at 30,457. The unemployment rate fell by 0.07pps over the week to 13.06%. The number of announced vacancies has reached 18,136 since the start of the year, up by 1.6% y/y. In March, the agency started using active population figure from latest census (232,010), whereas previously, it used data from 2003 (264,276). This led to a substantial increase in the unemployment rate. We calculated the rebased unemployment rate as of end-2011 at 13.2%. This indicated that the unemployment in the country has increased since the start of the year.
