Montenegro's bank assets contract 2.8% y/y in August 2011.

Total assets declined by 2.8% y/y to EUR 2.924bn at end-August, the central bank of Montenegro (CBCG) reported. The decrease accelerated from 2.3% y/y in July. In monthly terms the cumulative assets of banks rose by 0.9% after increasing marginally by 0.3% m/m in the previous month. The loan-to-deposit ratio dropped to 106.3% in August from 110.6% in July, 122.9% at end-2010 and 122.1% in August 2010. Bank assets accounted for 91.6% of the projected GDP for the full-year, as compared to 97.3% at end-2010 and 99.4% in August 2010.
