Moldova's industrial production volume edged down by 0.6% y/y in January-October and the activity featured wide variations from one month to another and from one sector to another, according to data published by the statistics bureau BNS on December 13.
In the core manufacturing sector, activity gained 0.7% y/y in January-October while it was 4.2% lower than last year in October. The sluggish performances of utilities (-5%) dragged down the overall performance.
In the ytd period, dairy production expanded by 6.3% y/y contributing 0.3pp to the 0.7% improvement of manufacturing activity. By contrast, the non-alcoholic beverages industry contracted by 47% y/y contributing a negative 0.5pp. A robust performance was posted by the textiles industry, where the output rose by 24% y/y.
