Mobile phone penetration in Montenegro climbs to 194.5% in July.

Mobile phone penetration in Montenegro climbed to 194.49% in July from 172.76% in June, the latest figures of the telecommunications agency reveal. The total number of subscribers reached 1,206,110, down 1.3% y/y, which translated into an annual drop of just 2.65pps in the penetration rate. In monthly terms the number of subscribers added 8.1%. The leading operator Telenor (former ProMonte, owned by the Norwegian Telenor) recorded a 5.9% y/y drop in its clients to 475,744 and slightly decreased its market share to 39.4% from 41.3% a year earlier. Its main rival T-Mobile (subsidiary of the fixed-line Crnogorski Telekom) booked first for the year annual expansion of customers by 1.3% to 407,380. Although its market share dropped marginally to 33.8% from 34% in June, it registered an increase of 1.1pps on annual basis. The clients of the newest player on the market, M:TEL, rose by 2.58% y/y, accelerating from 0.4% y/y in June and its market share stood at 26.8%. The Serbian-Bosnian telecom had 322,986 subscribers at the end of July.
