MetroWind to build EUR 54.7mn 27MW wind park in South Africa.

South African renewable energy developer MetroWind plans to invest ZAR 550mn (EUR 54.7mn) in the construction of a 27MW wind power park near to Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, Engineering News reported. The construction of the wind farm is expected to start in the third quarter of 2012 and to be completed by October 2013. The wind farm is projected to supply about 80 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually to national power utility Eskom.
