Mahindra South Africa could start local assembly if growth continues

If thenew vehicle sales continue to grow as they have been in the H1, Mahindra SouthAfrica would start local assembly, Mahindra & Mahindra automotive and farmequipment sectors president Dr Pawan Goenka, said on Monday. On a visit fromIndia, Goenka, who is also MSA chairperson, said the technical feasibilitystudy for the project had already been completed. As part of the process, sixvehicles had been assembled locally.  Hewould not, however, divulge who the assembler would be, or the location. Goenkanoted that MSA was aiming for 5% market share in the pick-up and low tomid-range SUV markets, up from the roughly 1.5% of the market it had cornered currently.
