Macedonias retail trade turnover up by nominal 7.6% y/y in January 2013.

Macedonias retail trade turnover increased by a nominal 7.6% y/y in January, reversing a 7.1% y/y drop in December, according to data of the statistics office. In real terms, the turnover rose by 3.3% y/y in January, after declining by 10.9% y/y in the previous month. Retail trade accounted for 49.9% of total distributive trade turnover in January. Wholesale trade turnover expanded by a nominal 13.9% y/y in January, accelerating from 11.8% y/y in December. The sub-sector accounted for 45.4% of total turnover in January. Turnover of trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by a nominal 11.6% y/y in the first month of 2013, reversing a 5.5% annual drop reported in December. This sub-sector accounted for 4.7% of the total turnover in December.
