Macedonias retail trade turnover fell by a nominal 7.1% y/y in December, a wider contraction than the 6.1% drop reported in November, according to data of the statistics office. In real terms, the annual decline widened to 10.9% in December from 10.2% in November. Retail trade accounted for 49% of total distributive trade turnover in December. Wholesale trade turnover expanded by a nominal 11.8% y/y in December, decelerating from 13.4% y/y in the previous month. The sub-sector accounted for 45.6% of total turnover in December. Turnover of trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles declined by a nominal 5.5% y/y, after dropping by 3% y/y in November.
